Been a while since I had the time to blog. It's crazy to have the whole week chocked full of work and uni and placements, I haven't even had time to work on assignments, but one has gotta have dinner no matter how busy~ so :D
So back a few days ago after church, I had lunch at a place called "Beauty and the Beast". Sure, it sounds a little lame, and there's no Belle nor Prince Beast inside, because it's a Korean restaurant at Strathfield, but the food was good.

This is Stanley's take without HDR.

Such a difference with HDR...

I was going to revert back to Av mode, but I forgot and took this with unstable hands in HDR...

:D THIS! Rice cakes, squid, loads of fatty pork, with a spicy korean sauce!! If anyone remembered Sunday last week, it was freezing cold. Sunny, but the wind is enough to chill to the bone.

Side dishes of kimchi, potato, and some weird natto-tasting bean stuff...
From Weeks 21-25, 2011 |
Came with large pieces of veggies that I suppose you wrap the spicy meat and squid into... but I tried that and it was a mess. The sauce dripped everywhere and needless to say, I embarrassed myself trying to clean up the mess, it was all over my hand and I stained quite a few unfortunate serviettes bright red... hm, I never claimed to be a graceful diner anyway. Quite the contrary in fact.

Another one of them big leaves to wrap the pork. I worked out with these smaller leaves, you can just use chopsticks to wrap everything, use chopsticks to pick them up, and not cause quite as big a mess... But the overall verdict for "Beauty and the Beast"? Great! They have quite a few good deals for groups consisting of more than 3 people, so I guess it's good for group meals~

Last night for dinner, I wanted to try a To-Nyu Nabe which I saw at Mizuya the other time, but didn't get to try. To-Nyu nabe is a soy milk hot pot, with a stock of soy milk and Japanese soup stock. I found the recipe on sumo kitchen and it's quite complicated to make, but the health benefits are meant to make it worth making... I thought I could find the easy way out and just order it from a restaurant.

Pork tonyu nabe from Mizuya. I have a feeling they cheated because it tastes nothing like soy milk. And a lone mushroom fell into the pot when it was being transferred onto the table.

This is Stanley being naughty and using flash because the lighting was SO dim.
From Weeks 21-25, 2011 |
At ISO800, it was so grainy, I cringed while looking at it even on the small screen of Stanley. Anyone got tips on how to take good pictures with dim lighting??? Or make flash photography seem less harsh...? I know icie would use his phone camera's light to create a make-shift flash and cover it with a serviette or something to soften the glare.... Troublesome!
